Training campaign on energy efficiency and carbon management techniques
Overview

The Department of Mobility, through the Mobility Infrastructure Section, organized the training campaign on energy efficiency and carbon management techniques for the airport staff of Airports of Puglia. The training sessions emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in aviation.
The training campaign, organized over two dates in September, saw participation from dedicated airport staff who were keen to learn and implement sustainable strategies. The first session took place on September 12, 2023, at Bari Airport, followed by another on September 21, 2023, at Brindisi Airport.
The campaign addressed critical topics essential for reducing the environmental impact of the aviation industry. The first module of the training focused on energy efficiency and its pivotal role in achieving decarbonization goals. Participants were exposed to practical case studies illustrating successful energy-efficient strategies that can be implemented at airports. The session aimed to equip the staff with the knowledge and tools to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in daily operations.
The second module delved into the management of carbon emissions, introducing participants to the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) standard, a globally recognized framework for carbon management within the aviation sector. The session also featured a case study highlighting the efforts of Airports of Puglia in managing and reducing their carbon emissions.
The training campaign not only provided participants with valuable insights but also equipped them with practical tools to address the environmental impact of aviation operations. It emphasized the need for a holistic approach to sustainability, underlining the significance of effective carbon emissions management as a means to reduce the industry's overall environmental footprint.
