Airports of Montenegro organized a training and awareness campaign on environmental issues
Overview

Airports of Montenegro organized training for employees and partners on energy efficiency and carbon footprint management techniques within the framework of the Solar Project “Sustainable reduction of carbon footprint level in programme AiRports”.

“Following years of individual work to address their local environmental impact Puglia Region – Department of Mobility, Airports of Puglia, Airports of Montenegro JSC, Albanian Civil Aviation Authority, Regional Development Agency of Molise Region – Sviluppo Italia Molise S.p.A. are now calling for join working and sharing of best practices to make further strides in managing, reducing and ultimately neutralising their carbon footprint”, said Miloš Janković, coordinator of the SOLAR project for the Airports of Montenegro.

According to him, the key result of the project involves the definition of common tools for the sustainable management of emissions at airports. In this regard, the Airports of Montenegro organized training for their employees, partners, but also for representatives of interested parties, such as operating and service companies, such as airlines, catering companies, as well as for passengers.

"Everything has a carbon footprint, every human activity, and its amount is a measure of our impact on the environment and climate change", said Božidar Pavlović, representative of EcoEnergy Consulting.

He added that it is important that all large companies make a decision on how they want to improve their business and establish clear goals and define a plan for achieving the set goals in terms of achieving energy efficiency.

"That's why environmental awareness is important - it's a trend dictated not by fashion, but by necessity. The speed of acceptance of the importance of sustainability, recycling and detoxification at the planetary level will have a significant impact on the future of the planet", concluded Pavlović.

At the workshop, working materials and analyzes made for the needs of the project were presented, which talk about the amount and impact of harmful gases on the environment, and guidelines aimed at reducing harmful effects were also presented.
